Curiosity is part of human nature. It’s in our nature to want to find out about everything. Now how can we make te process fun? Force people to read thousands of informative pages? Nah, it’s too boring. What about creating an environment where you can share your knowledge with others in the form of trivia game? Now that’s an idea. With Blufr, you can.
Blufr is a web2.0 trivia-type game that allows you to call on other’s statements (called “bluf”), or to create your own blufs and challenge others to call on them. To suggest a bluff, simply click on the “Suggest a Bluf” link in the tabbed area below the blufs (the right-most tab). As you continue playing, you’ll notice your Blufr score going up or down. When you’re done playing, click “claim score” and enter up to three initials and a web address if you have one (i.e. blog, profile, etc.). If your score is high enough you’ll show up in the “top scores” window. You can also create your own customized blufs about yourself and the people you care about (or don’t) with the new Bluf-o-Grams feature. Of course, the coolest feature of all is the ability to embed Blufr on your own site or profile. Check out our Blufr below:
Blufr is powered by Answers.com: a free online dictionary and more.
Overall, Blufr offers an addictive and a fun way to learn obscure facts. Do you know that “Return of the Jedi” was originally called “Revenge of the Jedi”? If your answer is “WAY” then you’re right. Posters and other merchandising materials were created with the “Revenge of the Jedi” title, only to be recalled before the movies’ release because George Lucas decided that Jedi do not seek revenge. See? Things like this is what makes you want to play even more. It goes to show you that a simple idea can become very addictive and popular.
