We all have different tastes and preferences in wine, as we have our own perspective and unique outlook on wine, bringing our own preferences and experiences to share. The beauty of wine experience is deciding for yourself what you like or dislike. While one person cannot explain wine, the total group of everyone can. So how about finding out what makes a good wine, exchange opinions and views with others, and discover the taste yourself? If you are living in California, you’re in luck, because that’s where CalWineries comes in.

CalWineries is a web2.0 ajax-based social networking site that allows you to share your wine tasting experience and learn about wineries, varietals and wines in California. You can add friends, bookmark Wineries, Varietals and Wines, discuss and debate interesting wine topics, and discover new, unique wines. You can also find an extensive history and database of wine and wineries in California. There is also an extensive database on the wine producing regions in California, in which you can find information about their climate, history, list of wineries, and their terrains.
Overall, CalWineries has a nice and easy-to-use user interface with an excellent database of wineries, wineries and varietals in California. You can find almost any informations regarding them. On a different note, WorldTechLogic has posted 2 other posts about wine social networking sites: BottleTalk and WineLog. Aside from the color theme and design, there are not much differences between them (all share similar niche, but CalWineries focuses in California). In terms of design, truthfully, we are not really sure of the choice of the overall dark green theme of CalWineries. Compare to the dark red theme of WineLog or the light green and white theme of BottleTalk, you will find an “old” feeling to CalWineries. Then again, wine history is an old tale, so it does make perfect sense to use the color.
