lastfm_logo.pngEver wanted to hear music on the internet while socializing? Ever wonder what others listen to? Music plays an important part in our lives. Sometimes, your taste in music defines who you are. Whether you are a rebellious or a romantic person, you are what you listen to. Why not make friends based on music? With Last.FM, you can.

lastfm1.pngLast.FM is a web2.0 music social networking service that records what you listen to, and then presents you with an array of interesting things based upon your tastes — artists you might like, users with similar taste, personalised radio streams, charts, and much more. Just listen to your music with your computer’s music player or your iPod and Last.FM will “scrobble” your playlists. Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.FM and added to your music profile. Once you’ve signed up and downloaded Last.FM, you can scrobble songs you listen to on your computer or iPod automatically. On Last.FM you get a page which lists all the bands and songs you’ve scrobbled, so next time somebody asks you about your favourite music you can send them straight to your Last.FM profile.

lastfm2.png Your music profile is the key to the world of Last.FM. Once you’ve started scrobbling, you can create your own personal music charts automatically, find your musical soulmates, discover and explore new music, generate your own personal radio station, and see what your friends are listening to. Every music profile is public, so you can have a look what your friends are listening to and find other fans who share your taste in music. As in any other social networking services, Last.FM allows you to add friends and create groups. Music statistics will also be generated in groups’ profiles.

Overall, our experience with Last.FM has been impressive. We can listen to what others are listening, check out music charts, or check out artists’ profiles. Moreover, if you own the rights to the music you wish to upload and promote, you can get it on Last.FM for free. WorldTechLogic has posted several other social networking in the past, such as: Viddler, MyBlogLog, MyOutDoors, FuelEmpire, MommyBuzz, GolfBuzz, DesignsToLove, Elgg, HotSpots, AmateurIllustrators, and many more, but only a handful is as impressive as Last.FM.
