Sharing and viewing videos online have always been a fun thing to do. With MySpace and Youtube (or similar web services), we can view as many videos as we like. If you like to watch online videos, chances are, you are dying to give out captions to them (ok, I admit, that’s me talking). If you’re like me, and you would like to add comments, information, subtitles, or funny remarks to a video and share it with others you might like this one we’re reviewing. Let us introduce you to BubblePLY.
BubblePLY is a web2.0 free online annotating service where anyone can experiment with creating and/or viewing layers (PLYs) of bubbles that are synchronized with a video on a player. With BubblePLY, you can expand your viewing experience by adding personal comments or thoughts in the form of captions, or, also known as, bubbles. BubblePLY is not just another anything. BubblePLY enables you to enhance a video without disturbing the actual video content. The original video is always kept intact; the only changes are cosmetic in that BubblePLY adds a transparent layer (called a PLY – Hence, BubblePLY) to which your content is added. The PLY can easily be turned off. Anyone can create and/or view a PLY or Bubbles without having to register. However, registration enables you to view the list of previous PLYs you have created and also features such as editing and deleting the bubbles you have created in the past. Simply grab any video from a video community (see full list HERE) by copying and pasting the URL into BubblePLY. You are now ready to start bubbling. After completing your Bubble creation (and by clicking on ‘Done Editing’ at the top of the Plycreatorâ„¢) you will see a few options such as ‘share this link with a friend’ and ‘embed video and bubbles in your site’.
Overall, BubblePLY is a cool tool. We’ve had some fun with it. Unfortunately, you cannot host your videos at BubblePLY. You will need to have the videos uploaded to any supported video community sites (list above) and then copy the URL of your video from that website and bring it to BubblePLY to start bubbling.
