Imagine this: your kids wished that they could get an alert letting them know the latest information on Wii game console, and your wife wanted a quick and easy way to get alerts about when the Governor’s Park Band will be playing next. How could you possibly know this thing? Well, perhaps you don’t, but other people might know something, and you are wondering how you can get that information easily. LoopNote provides an alternative.

LoopNote is a web2.0 ajax based service that lets people create alerts. Let’s say you’re in a band or you own an art gallery, you can use LoopNote to alert people about your upcoming shows. The way it works is simple: You create a topic like “Governor’s Park Band” and let people subscribe to it. When you’re ready to promote an event, just post a note to your topic like “Governor’s Park Band playing tonight at 9pm, Larimer Lounge”. All subscribers will receive an alert with your note. People can subscribe and get the notification via email, IM, text message (SMS) or RSS (which is called a “loop”). To send out alerts, you will have to send the notes in fewer than 100 characters. If you need more than 100 characters, you can attach an extended note to your note that can contain HTML (fancy graphics, links to a Google map, a YouTube video, etc). In order to see the extended note, subscribers will have to click on a link in the note that they receive, which will then take them to a page that shows the extended note.
Overall, LoopNote is a nice application. With an easy to use interface and a clean and simple, LoopNote is one cool way of keeping your audience and friends in the loop easily. The fact that it can send in multiple ways is a great idea. Even if you’re offline, you can get the alerts via SMS. Nice.
