Sometimes we need to collaborate with our peers on certain documents. Sending emails back and forth to edit notes are a hassle for most people. Why do it then? The answer is because they have to. Document sharing has been a necessity for many people, be they students, or (a group of) people working on the same projects in different locations (or countries, for that matter). With the improvement in web technologies, all have been made easier. Especially with Helipad.
Helipad is a web-based tool, which means you can use it wherever you can get online. Since Helipad is a hosted application, it will backup your documents, maintain security, and upgrade software, while you’re left to do the most important thing: write.
With Helipad, you can:
- Write notes and organize them with tags
- Create and maintain to-do lists
- Draft documents on any computer or phone with Internet access
- Share your work with others
Features of Helipad:
- Unobtrusive auto-save: set a timer to save automatically so you don’t lose your work
- Organize your documents with tags
- Quickly find documents with a live-search on every page
- Customize your Helipad with themes and plugins
- Share your documents with friends
- Prepare documents for print by changing font
Overall, our experience with Helipad has been positive. The user interface is easy to use and the site design can be changed according to what we like. You will be able to choose from 6 different pre-defined themes, or you can use your own CSS coded theme. There are also add-ons you install on your Helipad account, such as: Word Count, Table of Contents, Tab inserts Spaces and right-to-left writing direction. WorldTechLogic has posted a similar web2.0 applications in the past, called NoteCentric, MyNoteIT, WallNote and Stu.Dicio.Us. All are good in their own way, but none have the same add-ons and theme changing features as Helipad.
You can signup for a Helipad account by clicking HERE!

[…] HeliPad: The Flexible Web Notepad - Not sure about this one. I’ve used it and I must say it’s pretty, but I still rather the feel of Writely. It’s a person thing though. […]
