Do you like cooking and want to share your recipe with the rest of the world? How about connecting to other people with the same interest while you’re at it? With BakeSpace, you can. Sharing the same similarity to RecipeMatcher, BakeSpace allows you to share recipes. The big difference is that RecipeMatcher is not a social networking site. BakeSpace is similar to MySpace, with the difference in its niche.
BakeSpace was created as the first true social networking website devoted to bringing together people who enjoy cooking and baking. It’s an online community where you can make new friends, exchange recipes, share ideas, find answers to your questions, download coupons and, in general, get inspired about one of life’s great pleasures. With BakeSpace, you can also upload and share your video for others to view. There will be a chat feature on BakeSpace (called the “TeaRoom” -coming soon), so check back often to see if it’s available in the future.
With BakeSpace, you can post your own recipe. Simply look for the “Share a Recipe†button. You can also select the “Recipe†tab in the menu bar at the top of the page. All you need to do is to select your category and subcategory first and input the recipe title, directions and backstory, along with your zip code and country so members know where the recipe came from. You may also add a photo along with your recipes. All recipes will stay in the database for 1000 days.
To publish your recipe, you will need to choose either to let everyone see your recipe (every member of the BakeSpace community will see your recipe in their “Kitchenâ€Â) or to send the recipe to friends outside the BakeSpace.com community by entering their email addresses in the “Friends’ E-mails†box. When you’re ready to post your recipe, select “Publishâ€Â.
With its nice and clean design, We believe BakeSpace can be popular amongst cook around the world. However, we do find a bit of a rather bothersome feature in BakeSpace. The video, for one thing, automatically plays every time the page is loaded. And we do find BakeSpace a bit too “MySpace” instead of Recipe sharing social networking site. Why does it shows the chefs’ profiles in the front page, and not a single most popular recipes (for example), or the newest recipes submitted by user (another example)?
To give us a definite conclusion that this site is a recipe sharing with social networking feature, BakeSpace will need to focus on both the recipes AND the user profiles. We believe BakeSpace will pick up on this point as time goes by. If not, well, we wouldn’t be surprised if BakeSpace fails to be the most popular site in its niche.
