Nowadays, web services have become more and more intuitive with their services. Things that we cannot do in the past, are now gone. Commenting on websites, previously not possible todo, have become available with a service called TrailFire. TrailFire is a hosted service that enables anyone to comment on any web page. You can place a ‘trail mark’ on a page with your comments or notes. A trail mark can contain text, images, videos and other media types. When you give several marks the same ‘trail name’ you are forming your own navigation path on the web. This is called a ‘Trail’. A very, very cool idea.
Anyone with a compatible browser can follow a trail. What TrailFire does is gives you a Firefox plug in that allows you to place your comments on any web site. With the plug in installed you are also able to view other people’s comments as well. There are plenty of things you can do with TrailFire, ranging from serious research to serious fun. You can use trails to organize and annotate web pages or to communicate your point of view, share them by email, posting them on your blog or by publish them on TrailFire.
With TrailFire, you can create your own web of ideas, add your commentary on any web page, tell your story using existing pages as your stage, link pages together from your own point of view, and express yourself in a powerful new way. You can also use TrailFire to share your knowledge of the web to other people. As you browse the web, identify important information by placing a mark on the page, add your own comments to the mark, link related web pages together by topic, and share the results of your research with others.
TrailFire is indeed a great tools to include your own comments on webpages you browse everyday. Be sure to try it out!
